BUSINESS PROCESS ANALYST

JOB TITLE: Business Process Analyst
LOCATION: Education Centre, London
SALARY RANGE: $68,325 - $90,357
HIRING RANGE: $68,325 - $87,206

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the general direction and guidance of the Supervisor, ITS Projects and Training, the Business Process Analyst devises and designs business process requirements for the effective application of technology to organizational functions and opportunities. The incumbent will collaborate in the planning, design, development, and deployment of new and updates to existing forms, business processes, workflows, and process automation by gathering and analyzing requirements; constructing workflow charts and diagrams; writing specifications, mapping processes and overseeing the life cycle of related technology solutions, including but not limited to Electronic Document Management Systems (EDMS).


This individual will apply proven experience of successfully working with multiple stakeholders, as well as demonstrable communication, interpersonal, analytical, prioritization, and problem-solving skills to help maximize the benefit of technology and in improving organizational processes and function.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Defines and analyzes business problems and opportunities in conjunction with other staff and stakeholders
  • Gathers business and functional requirements working with staff and other stakeholders analyzes interprets and translates such requirements into functional specifications for technical analysis and review
  • Analyses, explores, models and documents business processes to understand ‘current state’ and identify opportunities for process and workflow efficiencies and effectiveness using technology;
  • Researches, reviews, and analyzes the effectiveness and efficiency of existing processes, and develop options for enhancing or further leveraging these processes using technology approaches;
  • Collaborates in the planning, design, development, and deployment of new IT applications, and enhancements to existing applications by analyzing requirements; constructing workflow charts and diagrams; writing specifications and overseeing the life cycle of the IT solutions development;
  • Assists in conducting research on technology software and hardware products and practices;
  • Supports users' participation in technology deployments and implementation activities;
  • Works with departments to optimize existing workflow and process automation, records management, digitization, and other records and data management opportunities;
  • Maintains effective and co-operative liaison with staff, affiliated agencies, vendors, suppliers, consultants, service providers and staff in other public sector and community organizations; and a high standard of employee/public relations at all times;
  • Continually seeks opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and strengthen customer and vendor relationships;
  • Maintains computer proficiency in programs and systems including but not limited to Microsoft Office 365 Suite (SharePoint, Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Project, Publisher), DevOps, JIRA, Power BI Microsoft Project and Project Server, Laserfiche, Visio and the Internet;
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; and participating in workshops and training, as approved and required;
  • Responds to emergencies during off-hours as may be required;
  • Provide support to the Supervisor, ITS Projects and Training as required.
 
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Successful completion of three (3) years post-secondary program in a computer related field or equivalent. Business Analyst certification or related training is required. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or the Enterprise Agile and/or LEAN/Six Sigma certification is considered an asset. Four (4) years related work experience is required with expertise in business and technical requirements gathering and analysis, business process modeling/mapping, methodology development, documentations, and experience with software deployment, enterprise technology solutions and electronic forms, workflows, and document management solutions (e.g. O365, Laserfiche).
