JOB DESCRIPTION OVERVIEW – Communications and Engagement Specialist

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Communications and Engagement Specialist is the primary contact for email, telephone and walk-in clients using the Centre for the first time, and provides communications and marketing support, to promote the Centre’s services and programs. This role is ideal for a recent graduate!

RESPONSIBILITIES

 
  • Receive telephone, electronic and walk-in inquiries about the Centre’s various services, address FAQs and direct clients to the appropriate staff and resources.
  • Provide administrative support for seminars, workshops and special events.
  • Manage Centre’s online presence, including social media; website and newsletter content updates; and email promotions.
  • Assist with program administration, including correspondence with clients and volunteers.  
  • Provide data entry support, using Zoho CRM.
  • Identify and report trends in visitors and seminar attendance.
  • Research and compile information
  • Maintain Centre handouts and information guides.
  • Actively contribute and participate in SBC events.
  • Occasional evening work may be required.
  • Daily duties may fall under the guidance of senior administrative staff.

JOB SKILLS & SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE
 
  • Must work well under pressure, be able to juggle many projects simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Standard office procedures and administrative skills.
  • Excellent oral and written interpersonal communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 Suite, and video meeting platforms.
  • Creator experience in Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar applications.
  • Social media engagement experience and etiquette
  • CRM and data entry skills

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
 
  • Minimum: 2 years progressive customer service experience
  • Preferred: Post-secondary education in marketing, communications, and administration.

Compensation: Competitive wages and benefits
Monday to Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm. (8:30am-4:30pm in off peak season)

Due to Covid-19 restrictions and an abundance of caution, the SBC is currently closed to the public. Staff are working remotely to deliver services using various online mediums. As Covid-19 restrictions are lifted, this position will be an in-office role.
