Job Description:
The successful candidate, under the direction of senior engineers and technical staff, will be responsible for the engineering analysis and design for a variety of structural projects. Flexibility exists in terms of the role and the experience level however a civil engineering background with an understanding of structural design of bridges/culverts would be required at a minimum. This role will involve complete delivery of structural projects including planning, assessing, designing, approvals, tendering and construction administration.

Job Description:
The successful candidate, under the direction of senior engineers and technical staff, will be responsible for the engineering analysis and design for a variety of structural projects. This role will involve complete delivery of structural projects including planning, assessing, designing, approvals, tendering and construction administration.
What you will do:
- Complete and review detailed engineering design calculations.
- Coordinating of engineering drawings with drafting staff.
- Develop and critically evaluate design alternatives.
- Contribute to business development, write design reports and preparation of formal engineering proposals in response to RFPs.
- Develop cost estimates and construction specifications.
- Provide contract tendering and administration services.
- Carry out field work including structure condition assessments, field measurements, and construction inspections.
- Coordinating with utility agencies to support projects.
- Assisting with delivery of other civil projects supporting our Land Development, Environmental, Linear or Water/Wastewater design teams, as required.
- Civil engineering degree or equivalent.
- 2-8 years of experience in the consulting industry or a related field.
- Licensed Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario, or ability to obtain a license within one year of hiring.
- Demonstrated technical competencies and skills in structural engineering.
- Experience with design codes, standards, specifications and guidelines within the industry such as Ontario Provincial Standard Specifications (OPSS) and Drawings (OPSD), Municipal and City Design Guidelines, Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code (CSA S6), the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario's Structural Manual, and Ontario Structure Inspection Manual (OSIM).
- Motivation to broaden experience in the areas of design, construction, project management, operations and supervision within a multi-disciplinary consulting environment.
- Experience and aptitude to work with the following software packages: S-Frame, Microsoft Office and AutoCAD is an asset.
- Possess strong organizational, oral, written communication, and problem solving skills; have an approachable enthusiastic interpersonal style.
- Must be self-starters with the ability to work independently and in a fast-paced team environment.
- Possess a valid driver's licence.
