ABOUT THIS POSITION

Digital Extremes is seeking an Accounting Associate to join our team. Working under the direction of the Controller, you will maintain primary responsibility over the accurate processing of Accounts Receivable transactions in addition to the performance of other multi-functional duties including Accounts Payable and internal reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, excellent attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills, and is comfortable responding to shifting demands in a challenging and fast paced environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Primary responsibility over Accounts Receivable functions, including preparing and recording journal entries relating to A/R invoices and payments
  • Ensure completeness and accuracy of A/R statements, accounts, and reports
  • Liaise with 3rd party merchants and other departments to verify discrepancies and resolve inquiries
  • Support the online merchandise store by preparing reconciliations, journal entries, and related internal reporting
  • Prepare bank reconciliations
  • Assist in the preparation of sales tax returns
  • Provide backup and support for A/P processes as needed, including processing payment runs and credit card reconciliations
  • Perform balance sheet and income statement analysis
  • Assist with monthly reporting needs and external audits, gathering data and preparing working papers
  • Ensure compliance with internal and external financial accounting policies, procedures, and controls
  • Provide innovative recommendations on improving current processes
  • Perform special projects or other duties as required
REQUIREMENTS
  • Minimum one to three year(s) relevant work experience in an Accounts Receivable or general accounting role is preferred
  • Intermediate level proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Fundamental working knowledge of accounting concepts and procedures
  • Strong attention to detail is a must; independently identifying issues and applying strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent time-management skills; working with a sense of urgency while maintaining a high level of accuracy
  • A self-starter; willing to take initiative
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral
  • Post-secondary accounting diploma or certificate
