Agilus is currently looking for a mainframe COBOL Developer for our client located in London, that will allow you to work remote during COVID, within Ontario. 

 

Position Overview:

• The Software Developer will participate in all aspects of software development and maintenance.
• Developer working on mainframe tools: primarily COBOL, AFP, SQL, DB2, IMS, JCL & CA7.

 

Accountabilities:

 Software Developers are responsible for the design and development of software solutions.

 This role involves the following activities:

• Design, develop, integrate, test, transition to production and maintain Mainframe software applications
• Provide ongoing daily production support and remediation of business applications within the IC Tech line of business
• Being part of the rotation for monitoring for incidents
• Contribute to the elimination of problems through permanent fixes including the identification of solutions, scoping the work (estimates) and executing the changes
• Task management for themselves as well assisting other group members
• Trouble shoot application problems and maintain an inventory of expertise for identified problems
• Will be required to work independently and as part of a larger project team

Qualifications and Competencies: 

• Knowledge and experience with:
• Familiarity with the following environment languages and tools: COBOL, AFP, SQL, JCL, Fileaid, VSAM and MVS mainframe environment
• Familiarity with DB2 and/or IMS databases
• Software design methodologies and documentation tools
• Software requirements analysis and design principles
• Demonstrated ability to analyze and solve problems
• Demonstrated ability to work individually or as part of a team, plan and organize your own work
• Communicate effectively in writing and verbally (in person or remotely)
• Exposure to job scheduling software (CA7) would also be an asset
