As a result, the College is committed to searching for a Director of Accessibility, Counselling, and Student Health Services. This progressive and accomplished professional will lead, influence and manage a diverse range of services related to accessibility, counselling and onsite student health clinic to facilitate and support the success and wellness of all students and prospective students.

What You Will Do

As the Director of Accessibility, Counselling, and Student Health Services, you will act as the primary contributor to the College’s mental health and wellness strategy in alignment with the College’s vision, mission, and strategic goals. This compelling and collaborative leader will provide professional consultation and/or clinical supervision to Counsellors engaged in personal and accessibility counselling, provide direction and support to supervisors, and oversee policy & program planning, implementation, and monitoring.

Reporting to the Dean of Students, this inspirational and empowering leader will motivate and manage a high performing team while overseeing department services such as personal counselling, counselling services for students with disabilities, accessibility services for students with disabilities, including wellness and research projects. Additionally, the Director of Accessibility, Counselling and Student Health Services will liaise with library and learning services related to test centers, accessibility lab services and student support, as well as liaising with the Fanshawe Student Union.

This high performing Director will proactively focus on removing physical and systemic barriers and biases with empathy by ensuring service delivery meets relevant professional standards and ethics. This includes assessing and managing counselling high-risk situations, and other safety issues. As a result, you will develop goals, objectives, plans, policies, and procedures to continually improve the College’s services by monitoring, evaluating, and developing improvements based on analysis and student feedback.

In addition, the Director of Accessibility, Counselling, and Student Health Services will develop departmental goals and strategies consistent with the objectives of the Counselling and Accessibility department and ensures the provision of necessary professional development/training for staff, including occupational health & safety programs.

 

What You Will Bring

You are an educated Master’s level graduate with post-secondary qualifications relevant to counselling and student wellness initiatives. As a proven, empowering and student focused Director, you have a minimum of 9 years of experience leading and executing strategies for wellness initiatives, post-secondary counselling, services for students with disabilities, and/or student success initiatives. Your formal education is preferably complemented by the ability to meet the professional standard to provide and supervise social workers and psychotherapists in the Province of Ontario. Additionally, priority is given to individuals with clinical counselling experience, including clinical supervision expertise, professional practice and ethics.

 

As a demonstrated, progressive leader, you are an accessibility, counselling, and student wellness subject matter expert who understands best practices derived from your professional experience acting as an advocate for issues related to student mental health and accommodation of disabled students. As a result, you have excellent strategic, consultation, communication, planning, organization, interpersonal and team leadership skills to oversee and drive innovation in all student services.

With this broad knowledge base, you are able to understand the dynamics of accessibility, counselling, and student health’s current issues and trends and can implement them into the College’s innovative strategies.
