PURPOSE OF POSITION
The CAD Administrator is responsible for the day to day administration and improvement of the Engineering CAD (Computer Aided Design) and PDM (Product Data Management) environment to ensure the stable operation of the CAD / PDM software throughout Trojan London, Trojan China, India and other Trojan related companies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Develop, coordinate and implement solutions to Solidworks, AutoCAD, PDM and other
engineering software issues and problems
· Work with Systems team to manage and administer CAD-enabled hardware to ensure
trouble-free operation by CAD users
· Assist the Systems team with installation and configuration of all CAD related software and
hardware
· Develop and provide end-user training of new features and functionality from new software
releases
· Administer and maintain accuracy of PDMworks Enterprise vault and the Engineering Change
Management database
· Develop, train and enforce CAD standards and keep CAD manual up to date
· Recommend and implement strategies for document management as it relates to
Engineering documents
· Analyze current CAD / PDM usage, plan for growth or increase in licensing, recommend and
perform software purchase and upgrade
· Track licenses and maintenance agreements for engineering software and hardware
· Maintain appropriate records for software and hardware management
· Prepare annual budget for new CAD software licenses, maintenance agreements, hardware
and training needs
· Analyze existing methods and develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives
· Primary contact for software vendors
· Repair 3D Solidworks models to ensure accuracy of data
· Administer and coordinate CAD and/or PDM software at Trojan international offices
· Perform quality checks, report data and provide solutions for improvements
· Perform software product evaluation, including planning, installation, testing, and technical support for the applications.
· Develop routines and utilities programs to enhance the efficiency of CAD users
· Assist in other business process efficiency initiatives
BACKGROUND AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
· Diploma or Degree in computer science, business administration, engineering or related field
· 2 + years of CAD software support
· 3 + years of hands-on experience with SolidWorks and AutoCAD in an engineering environment
· Experience working with a CAD PDM software
· Experience with Microsoft Access, VBA and SQL databases an asset
· Demonstrated ability to work well with associates from different discipline and cultures with varying degrees of technical experience
· Enthusiastic, optimistic and an understanding on how to be a change agent
· Demonstrated ability to work effectively with minimal supervision and provide exceptional support
· Demonstrated ability to be organized and detail-oriented with good follow-through techniques
· Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills
