Position: Full Time Youth Program Coordinator (1 Year Contract)
Woodstock Branch YMCA
Nature and Scope:
Reporting to the General Manager, the Coordinator of Youth Programs will be responsible for ensuring service excellence in all youth programs. The successful candidate will oversee the supervision and safe operation of these programs; ensuring the YMCA of Western Ontario regulations, National YMCA standards, and YMCA Priority: SAM (Serving All Members) expectations are met.
The Coordinator will give direct leadership to programs and services that include drop in programs, instructional programs, the YMCA Y-ired Zone, specialty courses and sporting leagues. The Coordinator will supervise all Youth Dept. staff and volunteers through development, training, coaching and program audits.
Responsibilities:
- Recruitment, selection, training, scheduling and performance management of staff and volunteers in youth program areas
- Provide direct leadership in the delivery of programs
- Establish and implement staff/volunteer development and recognition plans and programs
- Administrative duties include payroll, scheduling, monitoring wait lists, statistical reporting and analysis
- Research current trends and develop new and innovative programming based on trends
- Development of sporting leagues
- Development and ongoing monitoring of budget
- Assist with marketing and promotional efforts as related to programs
- Work directly with various user groups
- Respond to and proactively deal with YMCA members and potential issues of concern
- Support all other service areas while implementing YMCA Priority: SAM (Serving All Members)
- Maintain relevant certifications
Other Job Details:
- Flexible work week often involving evening and weekend work
- Start date: Mid March 2010
- End date: Mid March 2011 (Parental Leave coverage)
Salary/Wage: Annual salary dependant on skills and experience
Qualifications & Experience:
- Relevant degree or diploma in related field is considered an asset
- Current Standard First Aid / CPR
- Minimum 1 year Supervisory / Leadership Experience
- Minimum 1 years working in a related field
- Sporting, Fitness or Recreation background
- Coaching certifications considered an asset
- YMCA Healthy Child Development, High 5 or Quest Program certification
- Current Criminal Record check including Vulnerable Position Screening
