Software Trainer & Quality Assurance Analyst

THE POSITION:
We have an immediate opening for a Software Trainer/Quality Assurance Analyst. We are interested in filling this position as a Job share working 17.5 hours per week, but will consider a Full time candidate. The successful candidate will be self motivated, able to work on their own with minimal supervision.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Quality Assurance of Products and Applications – 35%
· Rigorously performing system testing to ensure software applications have a zero or low defect rate and that they comply with the documented specifications.
· Performing user interface testing to ensure applications are intuitive, easy to use and easy to navigate.
· Performing regression testing to ensure that any changes made by developers do not affect the other areas of the application.
· Preparing and documenting test plans and test cases to ensure that all functionality is properly tested.
· Effective utilization of Issue Tracker for recording issues and monitoring feedback throughout the bug lifecycle.
· Working with clients and developers to create realistic test data to ensure all functionality is tested.
· Working as a team member with Management and developers, to set goals and associated target dates and ensuring that all testing is completed within the estimates and schedule as agreed upon with Management.
End User Training – 30%
· Providing on-site training to users so that they can effectively use and test the application.
· Working with clients to ensure they can effective use the issue tracking system for entry of issues found during testing.
· Working with clients to ensure they have the necessary skills to perform user testing and that they comply with the user testing timelines as documented in Project Plan.
· Communicating with users to ensure that their expectations are being fulfilled.
Product Support – 20%
· Daily monitoring of Issue Tracker and Support Email addresses as well as escalation of issues.
· Respond to user inquiries and issues related to PD Place and ContinuED in a timely manner to meet our Service Level Agreement Standards.
· Escalate major issues or problem clients to Product Manager.
· Updating of product enhancement lists with support issues which are enhancements or changes.
User & Product Documentation – 15%
· Create and maintain all written documentation in the form of end-user manuals and on-line help systems for custom applications and products.
· Design and create demonstration and marketing presentations and documentation for marketing of products.
· Ensure documentation meets existing format, content and style guidelines adopted by management.
· Research and evaluate new documentation tools and methods; document and improve documentation processes.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· A diploma or certificate in the field of formal training and/or 5 years adult training experience.
· Experience in the software industry is preferred.
· 3-5 years experience in system testing preferably in the software industry.
· The ability to multitask and take on new responsibilities as required is essential characteristics of the successful candidate.
· Excellent oral and written communication skills.
· The individual must have excellent computer skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office 2007 is a must.
