SALARY RANGE: $86,182 – 113,973
HIRING RANGE: $86,182 – 109,996

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Executive Director / Community and Corporate Fund Development Officer manages the operations, administrative and financial management of the Thames Valley Education Foundation (TVEF), an independent charity that supports students within the Thames Valley District Board (TVDSB).  This role provides strategic direction and leadership to support community-based initiatives and fund development.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
  • Manage a portfolio of major donors and sponsors, executing fundraising initiatives to secure funds to support TVDSB students, including donor problem-solving, collaborating with external partners on fundraising efforts and creating fundraising materials such as Annual Reports, newsletters, and communication initiatives
  • Manage relations and expectations of the TVEF Board of Directors, ensuring regular organizational reporting, policy review/amendments/creation, and vendor proposal requests
  • Manage and support the logistics, planning, evaluation and implementation of TVEF programs, including the Caring Fund, Best First Day (backpack program), Lawson Literary Awards, and Learning Enhancement Fund
  • Support TVDSB internal staff in fundraising efforts, including policy support
  • Manage all aspects of TVEF including staffing, budgeting and financial reporting, ensuring compliance with federal and provincial requirements

WORK PERFORMED:
 
  • Administer the student awards and scholarship portfolios for TVDSB and the Thames Valley Education Foundation (TVEF)
  • Manage, administer and direct all marketing initiatives related to student scholarships, trusts and bursaries, and coordinate grants
  • Serve as custodian of all legal documents and trust accounts associated with the TVEF
  • Develop, implement, assess, review and revise the strategic plan for the TVEF as needed, in consultation with the Board of Directors, ensuring the highest level of stewardship and opportunities to sustain and grow the foundation
  • Develop and maintain relationships that support the goals and objectives of the TVDSB and the TVEF with donors and potential donors, community groups, philanthropic organizations and government bodies
  • Provide expertise in fundraising, sponsorship, grants submissions, memorial donations, planned giving, major giving, donor recognition and stewardship to school staff, parent groups, donors, legal and financial advisors
  • Develop related policies and procedures
  • Coordinate related system-wide programs and special events
  • Act as spokesperson for special events and during media interviews
  • Liaise with financial services staff to ensure transactions and records are maintained according to TVDSB policies and TVEF by-laws
  • Manage direct reports including supervision, delegation of tasks, performance management, conduct issues, performance appraisals and goal-setting activities

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE:
 
  • Proficient in computer applications such as: Outlook 365 and MS Office Suite
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with effective communication abilities, both orally and in writing
  • Capable of working independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Strong project management and leadership skills
  • Thorough understanding of fundraising principles, including Board governance, Canada Revenue Agency rules and regulations for non-profit organizations, financial investment and donation vehicles, and non-profit marketing practices
  • Ability to present effectively to both small and large groups
  • Ability to liaise with individuals and organizations
  • Adept at fostering cooperation with external partners

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
 
  • Completion of a three (3) year Degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing or equivalent
  • Five (5) years of related work experience is required
