Summary:

Recreation Facilities provide all citizens the opportunity to participate in recreation activities in a welcoming, clean, safe, and inclusive space.

Role:

Reporting to a Recreation Supervisor, the Facility Coordinator assists with coordinating activities at community and seniors' centres across the city, and Storybook Gardens. This casual position works as part of a team in a public facing fast paced environment opening and closing the facility, completing facility maintenance, and providing excellent customer service to City of London patrons and volunteers.

Job Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all activities within the facility and ensure the safety and security of employees and participants within set standard operating procedures.
  • Assist with training and supporting new and returning employees.
  • Assist with the set-up and take down of programs and rentals including moving equipment.
  • Act as a liaison between front line employees and supervisor to promote teamwork and clear lines of communication and to ensure health and safety requirements are met and reported in a timely manner.
  • Open and close the facility as required.
  • Ensure the cleaning, disinfection, and documentation of the facility per City of London Cleaning Protocols and assisting as required.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills and a positive and professional attitude when communicating with the public and co-workers.
  • Assist with the completion of facility checklists to ensure high quality standards and compliance of policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all staff complete documentation on a regular basis for attendance, accident reports etc.
  • Accurately maintain and report on daily balancing.
  • Assist with the development and delivery of front-line employee training.
  • Complete all required paperwork and reports as outlined by Supervisor.
  • Attend regular staff meetings as required by supervisor.
  • Ensure logistics and scheduling of activities is complete and on time.
  • Demonstrate commitment to anti-racism, anti-oppression, and human rights through practices and interactions with community partners, employees and individuals and support programs and initiatives that reflect this commitment.
  • Demonstrate commitment and adherence to Health and Safety legislation and programs; actively promote a culture of safety.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Vulnerable Sector Police Check (VSPC) (prior to the start of employment)
  • Current Standard First Aid Certificate (prior to the start of employment)
  • Two years' experience in a recreation environment

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to demonstrate interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software including publisher, excel and word, and Xplor Recreation registration software (preferred).
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • High level of comfort in fast paced public facing environments.
  • Knowledge of janitorial functions.
  • Ability to move furniture including tables and chairs.

Other Information:

  • CSA approved green patch footwear is required.
  • Starting Wage: $18.25 per hour.
