Applications Developer/Analyst

Information Technology Department

 

Position Summary: 

 

To analyse, develop, implement and maintain application-based solutions using multiple and varied technologies in support of business needs and changes to business processes.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Developing and implementing technical solutions to business needs
  • Researching available tools and technologies to determine alternate technical solutions
  • Designing and developing data file import and export interfaces for business applications
  • Designing and developing reports, for internal and external distribution, from business applications
  • Enacting changes to business applications in response to business process changes
  • Deploying updates to business applications in a timely and secured manner
  • Maintaining the integrity of  business application databases
  • Maintaining and updating internal and external web sites
  • Providing significant contributions to various technology related projects
  • Preparing documentation (SOPS’s) and administrative reports as required
  • Additional duties as requested by supervisor

 

Education/Experience Required:

 

  • Relevant post-secondary degree or diploma from a recognized institution in Computer Development
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of related work experience in a fast-paced environment
  • Call Centre / Collection Industry experience an asset

 

 

Additional Skills Required:

 

  • Demonstrated knowledge of programming concepts and principles
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Visual Basic or related object-oriented programming language
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Crystal Reports reporting tool or related products
  • Demonstrated knowledge of SQL-based database engines
  • Demonstrated knowledge of MS-Access
  • A creative and free-thinking approach to problem solving
  • A tenacious approach to delivering solutions
  • Able to work as part of a team or work independently
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to interact positively with end users and 3rd party consultants/ support
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to document application development, including design and development logs
