Quality assurance technOLOGIST

Located in Tillsonburg, Ontario, Otter Valley Foods Inc. is a major producer of high quality frozen food products for prominent clients throughout North America.  

In continuing our commitment to our customers and as a result of new business, we have immediate openings for a Quality Assurance Technologist to monitor the daily Q.A./Q.C. functions, HACCP  procedures and to assist with regulatory functions.

Reporting to the Director, Quality Assurance the successful candidate must be a team player with experience in the quality field.  Quality assurance experience in a food processing operation, particularly a meat or poultry operation is a definite asset.  Assisting production with quality concerns, monitoring quality related processes, verification of HACCP documents in an industrial food atmosphere are key functions of this position.  This position will also be involved with the daily interaction with the CFIA, outside auditors, our customers and suppliers. Additionally, assisting the Director, QA with preparation and review of documents for label submissions to CFIA or USDA will be a part of this position.  Strong verbal and written communication skills are an essential part of the position given our fast paced and changing work environment.

We are looking for candidates with a minimum of 2 to 3 years experience in Q.A./Q.C. in an industrial food setting.  A B.Sc. degree in appropriate sciences or a college certificate in Food & Drug Technology is preferred.  The ability to support line operations and address production issues is a must as well as the ability to adhere to strict C.F.I.A. regulations. Experience with Canadian or US regulatory functions is a definite asset.  An individual with strong computer skills (Excel, Word, Access & PowerPoint), planning and organizational skills will excel in this position.  The ability to coordinate efforts and improve efficiencies as well as having a commitment to producing quality food products will be keys to success.
