Job Description: WELDER

 

Key Accountabilities/Activities:

 

 

  • Read and interpret blueprints of welding process specifications
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments
  • Repair worn parts of metal products by welding on extra layers
  • Fabrication and assembly, multipass welding, custom fabrication, mig and tig welding
  • Grind off excess weld, slag, or spatter, using grinders and other equipment
  • Position work pieces and clamps together or assembles in jigs or fixtures
  • Must be able to examine welds and ensure that they meet standards and/or specification
  • Solving, critical thinking, job task planning and organizing
  • Conduct self in accordance with the ISO 9001:2000 certifications that are in place for the company, and all quality policies and procedures
  • Follow all company health and safety regulations, wear all required protective equipment such as safety boots, welding helmet, ear plugs, respirators, and must be capable of setting up and using welding equipment such as a  fume ventilator
  • May be asked to work at either AMTI buildings
  • Required to work shift-work and overtime as needed
  • May perform other duties assigned by the supervisor

 

Requirements:

 

  • Work experience in the trade of welding large components
  • Some college/vocation or technical training
  • Experience in using overhead cranes, and driving fork-lifts would be beneficial
  • Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) Certificate or equivalent would be beneficial
