Fusion Youth Activity and Technology Centre
Part-time Culinary position- up to 24 hours per week
The Town of Ingersoll Fusion Youth Activity & Technology Centre is looking for a dynamic individual that can combine culinary experience and a strong background working with youth in a recreation and leadership capacity.
Job Description- Overview
- Successful candidate will be responsible for planning and facilitating the Cooks In Training (CIT) program;
- Responsible for designing Fusion Catering services menu including standardization of recipes and portions;
- Responsible for facilitating catering events including budget, food purchases, preparation, cooking and set-up as necessary;
- Must be able to complete tasks in a budget-conscious and cost-effective manner
- Act as a positive role model by interacting with all participants in an appropriate, respectful manner;
- Ensure and promote the safety and security of participants by providing direct supervision and effective behaviour management of youth participating in drop-in centre;
- Respect confidentiality of participants;
- Must be comfortable working with limited supervision
- Must be available to work flexible schedule including evenings and weekends;
- Other duties as assigned by Program Manager/ Assistant Manager.
Skills/ Competencies/ Experience Desired
- Professional cooking diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Minimum 1-2 years experience in a similar position;
- Creative and unique culinary abilities
- Demonstrated ability to be a leader by created
- Experience in youth recreation and activity programming with adolescents aged 12-18 yrs.;
- Demonstrated ability to be a leader by encouraging effective teamwork skills
- Demonstrated respect for cultural and human diversity among youth
- Must possess or be willing to obtain Safe Food Handling, C.P.R. and Standard First Aid;
- Have an interest in helping youth develop life skills and possess the ability to interact and relate to youth in ways that support positive character building;
- Experience with instructing, coaching, teaching, leading and/or supervising small to large groups;
- Rate of Pay: $16.93- $22.14

Job Description – Overview
- Assist in planning, implementation and evaluation of programs in Activity and Technology areas of programming
- Assist in program development, implementation and evaluation of centre programs and special events;
- Ensure safety and security of participants by providing direct supervision and effective behaviour management of youth participating in drop-in centre;
- Responsible representation of the Ingersoll Youth Centre to the community;
- Act as a positive role model by interacting with all participants in an appropriate, respectful manner;
- Respect confidentiality of participants;
- Attend all mandatory staff training events, staff meetings and engage in regular, effective communication with coworkers;
- Available to work flexible schedule including evenings and weekends
- Other duties as assigned by Program Manager and/or Assistant Manager.
Skills/Competencies/Experience Desired
- Community College or University student and/or graduate in Recreation Studies, Information Technology and/or Child and Youth Work or related education/experience
- Experience in youth recreation and activity programming with adolescents 12-18yrs.
- Demonstrated ability to be a team player and work cooperatively within at team setting.
- Experience or strong interest in sports, visual arts, theatre, music, information technology and leadership programming.
- Strong background and interest in technology relating to youth development and programming
- Experience with instructing, coaching, teaching, leading, and/or supervising small to large groups of youth
- Demonstrated respect for cultural and human diversity amongst youth and an ability to involve and empower youth
- Possesses the attributes and qualities of a positive role model and an ability to interact and relate to youth in ways that support positive character building
- Demonstrated ability to contribute in a positive manner to a team environment
- Possesses or is willing to obtain current C.P.R. Certification and Standard First Aid
- Keyboard efficiency and capacity to operate or quickly learn relevant computer software
