Summary of Duties:

Reports to the Supervisor, Custodial Services or designated Supervisor. Performs custodial duties at City of London facilities.

Work Performed:

  • Gains exposure performing a variety of custodial duties to maintain safe and sanitary conditions.
  • Supports full time custodial staff while they are performing yearly floor care, including sweeping, polishing, stripping and waxing floors. Cleans and sanitizes walls, partitions, fixtures, and furniture, and empties waste and recycling receptacles.
  • Cleans washrooms and ensures supplies are available.
  • Assists with moving furniture and supplies as required.
  • Assists with cleaning the exterior of City facilities and grounds, ensuring that the grounds are clean and litter free, including disposing of dead birds and small animals, as required. 
  • Supports fulltime custodians performing sets up and tears down furniture and equipment in training, committee, meeting rooms and lobby areas for various functions.
  • Performs related duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma.
  • Must be a current student enrolled in full-time studies returning to school full-time September 2024 and/or require this placement to graduate from an academic program.

Experience:

  • Previous cleaning experience considered an asset.

Specialized Training & Licenses:

Skills and abilities in the following areas are necessary:

  • WHMIS training is an asset.

Compensation & Other Information:

$21.78/hour.

This posting is for two (2) temporary full-time up to 4 month student positions (May - September 2024).

Current hours of Work: Monday - Friday from 4:30 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. 

Work Arrangement: In office.

SHIFT WORK MAY BE REQUIRED.
