Job Description
Position Summary:
Primarily responsible for the neighbourhood Human Resources function including health and safety and employee relations. Ensures that Corporate personnel policies are interpreted consistently and making suggestions when the policies should be revised.
This position holds some administrative responsibilities as well.
Key Responsibilities:
Human Resources

Actively participate in positive employee relations

Participates in recruitment activities - screening, hiring and orientation

Maintain the Performance Management system locally, including the job descriptions.

Maintain the training program for all staff.

Act as contact for the Hospitality Centre Coordinator in the absence of the Business Administrator or the appropriate Sister.

Responsible for the preparation of the Years of Service Award, St Joseph’s Day and retirement parties
-
Assist with staff meetings as required
Payroll
-
Act as liaison with central payroll and review/monitor the payroll input from the London Neighbourhood to central payroll.

Monitor vacation, sick time, stats and other salary information in the employee files.
Advise department heads and staff on personnel and payroll issues including changes to benefits.
Administrative

Assists the Business Administrator as required.

General administrative responsibilities will include maintenance and training for the office equipment, meeting arrangements

Backup for bursar as needed.
Health & Safety
-
Responsible for carrying out the Health and Safety program for the London neighbourhood, including WSIB and the Return to Work program.

Active member of the JOHSC. Conduct incident investigations along with the appropriate supervisor/JOHSC member.

Local contact for the MOL, WSIB, etc.

Ensure that all relevant staff is properly trained and able to perform their duties with competence. Promotes the safety of all staff, Sisters and visitors

Other related duties as assigned.
Organizational Relationships:
Responsible To: Business Administrator, London Neighbourhood
Indirectly responsible to: the Director of Corporate Human Resources, Director of Corporate Finance
Positions Supervised: none
Education:
Formal Education: Post-secondary education in a recognized Human Resources program. Training/education in Office Administration is an asset. Demonstrated continuing education in the Human Resources field such as progressing towards a CHRP designation would be a definite asset.
Experience:
A minimum of 2-4 years’ experience in all aspects of Human Resources and able to function with little supervision. A minimum of 2 years’ experience in office administration is an asset. A strong understanding of Legislation and regulations relating to the Occupational Health & Safety Act and the Employment Standards Act is required.
Skills Training:
Proven communication, interpersonal and mediation skills. Proven ability to maintain confidentiality in all situations. Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities. Proficient in MS Office Suite and data management software.
