JOB TITLE: First Nations, Metis and Inuit (FNMI) Education Advisor
DEPARTMENT: Learning Support Services
SALARY RANGE: $67,909 - $89,807 per year
HIRING RANGE: $67,909 - $86, 678 per year

POSITION SUMMARY:
The First Nations, Metis and Inuit (FNMI) Education Advisor utilizes a collaborative and team focused approach to provide strategic leadership to the Board on strategies, solutions, and best practices relating to FNMI student success, policies, programs, initiatives and projects.
The successful candidate will assist senior administration with the negotiation of tuition agreements with local First Nations communities; develop and deliver related professional development; develop and establish strategic partnerships with local First Nations community organizations and agencies to support FNMI student success within TVDSB; prepare related funding proposals and reports and assist with the management and control of budgets for all FNMI projects as assigned.
Responsibilities include working closely with curriculum development teams to ensure that literacy and numeracy programs reflect an inclusive curriculum, particularly, the perspective of FNMI peoples; recommend, develop and implement projects and plans related to FNMI students; and collaboratively lead, support and advise senior administrators, administrators, and teachers in the development of board, school, and classroom strategies and solutions to issues where guidelines are not readily available.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Successful completion of a four (4) year university degree in a related field such as First Nation, Metis and/or Inuit studies or equivalent program of study. A minimum of three (3) years of related work experience involving First Nation, Metis and/or Inuit communities or the development of related projects and policies is required.
