Job Description
Inteqna, London Office, is currently looking for a Cost Accountant to join their team located in St. Thomas, ON. This is a permanent position.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for all cost and inventory accounting and analysis for all aspects of the divisional operation
- Responsible for accurately reporting the results of manufacturing activity on a timely basis in the areas of material, labour manufacturing overhead, and cost of quality in accordance with general accepted accounting principles and practices
- Actively involved in departmental budget preparation and cost control by reporting monthly results against budget
- Prepare monthly comparative financial cost statements and analyse monthly cost variances
- Develop and maintain standard material labour and overhead rates as well as product costs. Maintain CMS computer cost system
- Prepare actual cost reports on a monthly basis for material, labour and manufacturing overhead as well as product costs; monthly "Cost of Quality" reports; monthly departmental statements of expenses
- Explain significant variances from budget
- Work closely with Production Control and Manufacturing to ensure accurate inventory
- Account for all inventory transactions through the G/L and fixed assets including capital authorizations and depreciation
- Analyse and account for all operational costs and variances
- Follow and adhere to requirements of current customer quality and environmental management systems standards
- Perform other related duties as required
Qualifications:
- CMA or CGA graduate
- Community College Diploma or equivalent
- 2-3 years related cost experience
- Microsoft Office and CMS / Solarsoft computer experience
- Experience in a standard cost environment, cost analysis, fixed asset reporting, and inventory accounting an asset
