Job Description

 The purpose of the Production/Facility Manager is to manage and direct personnel in all areas of production for the Tillsonburg location, ensuring the quality product is produced on time, as per the specifications, at a minimal cost, in a safe environment. Additionally, manage all aspects of the Tillsonburg facilities and equipment ensuring our commitment to the lease of the facility, longevity of equipment, and a safe and efficient work environment for the Tillsonburg employees.

 


The Production/Facility Manager will interact with all Zelus employees while reporting to the General Manager and will work closely with sales, project managers, purchasing, and engineering to ensure good coordination between departments.

The Production/Facility Manager is accountable for the following:

• The health and safety of all workers in the assigned area.
• The quality and scheduling of the product produced.
• The productivity of manufacturing.
• The accuracy of the data entered into the various management systems.
• The behavior and actions of the personnel reporting to them.
• The maintenance and care of the facility, and any Zelus owned or rented equipment.

The Production/Facility Manager is responsible for performing the following:

• Guiding, directing and liaising with the employees in the area to ensure that a quality product is produced on time as per specifications at a minimum cost in a safe environment.
• Ensure projects are scheduled and coordinated through the shop, delegating the proper individuals to the appropriate duties.
• Coordinating with project managers, engineering/drafting, purchasing and installation to ensure that Zelus customers are satisfied.
• Assisting in the development of new products and methods, and the refinement of existing products and methods.
• Continually reviewing the procedures and processes to ensure they are best practices.
• Recommending any counseling or discipline that may be required.
• Review all quality and safety issues related to manufacturing.
• Ensure that the production leaders are meeting expectations and responsibilities.
• Ensure that safety inspections including forklift, crane, respirator, and weld station are being completed.
• Ensure thorough Accident and Incident investigations in a timely manner.
• Ensure proper personal protective equipment is worn and that employees are trained in proper use, as required.
• Correct substandard acts or conditions utilizing the Company policies and procedures and discipline policy for guidance.
• Conducting annual evaluations with each direct employee.
• Co-ordinate production requirements/production schedule.
• All other responsibilities as listed in the Zelus Environmental, Health and Safety Policies and Procedures and Operational Policies and Procedures including WSIB / Return to Work and General responsibilities under the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

 

The Production/Facility Manager is responsible for performing the following:

• Ensure workers comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations.
• Ensure any equipment, protective device or clothing required by the employer is used/worn.
• Advise workers of any potential or actual health or safety dangers known by the supervisor.
• If prescribed, provide workers with written instructions about measures and procedures to be taken for the workers’ protection.
• Take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of workers.

ABILITIES

• Thorough knowledge of all aspects of company products and their application.
• Thorough knowledge of all equipment, procedures, production capabilities and requirements in the area assigned.
• Knowledge of the required software systems as related to their area of supervision.
• Understand the general maintenance requirements of machinery and equipment.
• Understanding of W47.1 and W59 welding standards.
• Thorough knowledge of all safety, operational & quality policies, procedures and programs.
• Must have a general working knowledge of all machinery under their supervision.
• Understand the duties and skills of those employees in the assigned area.


 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Secondary school diploma or high school equivalent as a minimum.
• Post secondary education in related field or relevant work experience.
• Maintain a level of education necessary to keep pace with new manufacturing technology and company requirements.
