Bilingual Editor

Our client, a large defense manufacturer in LONDON, ONTARIO is looking a Bilingual Editor (French/English) for a one year contract.
The range for this role is negotiable, approximately $26 - $31/hr
Required Qualifications

• University Degree in languages, translation, or another relatable field. (Honours or higher preferred)
• Bilingual (French/English)
• Minimum 1 year editing experience
• Knowledge and experience developing and using checklists and style guides
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Content Management System (CMS) experience
• Demonstrated use of PC-based software
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
• Ability to travel (5% Canadian, 5% US & International) and possess/be able to acquire and maintain a valid passport

Job Responsibilities

• Edit technical manuals
• Translate technical manuals
• Check TMs for readability and consistency in terminology
• Check for accuracy of references and additional material/annexes/indices in technical manuals
• Maintain checklists and style guides
• Ensure that the Technical Publications groups are kept informed about decisions/discussions
• Perform aggregates on TMs
• Check layout and format
• Perform translation editing
• Perform second checks on secondary language data entry
• Perform secondary language data entry
• Assist with customer comment response, implementation and checks
• Assist with interdepartmental editing and/or translation requests

Preferred Qualifications

• English editing certification by an accredited organization
• Working and written knowledge of another language, with Spanish or Arabic preferred
• Previous knowledge and experience in working with various military TM specifications
• Knowledge and experience using Arbortext Editor, SGML, XML and/or HTML software and Adobe products
