Job Description

My client, based in London, ON has a an exciting new opportunity for a Human Resources Generalist to join their team.

Are you an HR Generalist with experience from a manufacturing environment? Experience in Health and Safety and payroll as well? I would like to speak with you!

The Lead site Human Resources activities to cultivate a high performance, agile workforce with an employee centered culture that is focused on safety and the achievement of the company’s goals and objectives. Coordinate the implementation and adherence to company HR and HSE policies, procedures and programs and support the recruitment, orientation and ongoing development of employee skills and competencies that will ensure a superior workforce. Support internal customers and foster positive employee relations.

You will;
- Acts as an ambassador for the Company at all times
- Provides an exemplary level of service and support to the customer base
- Maintain strict confidentiality with HR related matters
- Remain abreast of industry and local HSE and HR legislation; advise Corporate HR and safety, as required
- Assist with and provide input to the preparation of the HR strategic and site business plans
- Participate in the development and updating of company policies and procedures
- Foster a positive employee relations climate by assisting with the development/deployment of policies and programs to improve employee satisfaction and tools to assess climate/culture
- Manage all hourly staffing activities including preparing job descriptions/postings, conducting internal/external searches, qualifying candidates, making hiring recommendations, and the preparation of employment offers and etc.
- Enroll employees in company payroll and applicable company benefits and services plans
- Manage the new employee orientation and onboarding process to ensure employee success and effectiveness
- Assist with employee development by providing advice and resources on training, education and career development options. Conduct training needs analysis as required
- Support hourly performance management activities including progressive discipline, (periodic performance reviews and related development planning).
- Advise and assist managers/employees in the resolution of work (non-work) related issues and the interpretation and administration of company policies/procedures to ensure fair and consistent treatment of employees
- Ensure the effective and accurate administration of employee records, including organizational charts, training, payroll, benefits and etc.
- Prepare periodic and month-end reports as required
- Conduct exit interviews with departing employees.

HEALTH AND SAFETY
- Promote a behavioural based safety culture to reduce and eliminate safety and environmental incidents
- Establish and maintain administrative safety controls (policies, procedures and standards) to ensure compliance with Saand, industry and legislated requirements
- Support the Joint Health and Safety Committee and its initiatives
- Assist with the safety, ergonomic, environmental assessments and improvements
- Review all site incident/accident reports and follow-up, as required, to ensure permanent corrective actions have been identified and implemented
- Coordinate required subject matter expert support on HSE related issues
- Coordinate HSE training needs analysis, development and delivery to ensure appropriate safety awareness at all levels of the site team
- Assist with disability claims (WSIB/LTD) management and ensure return to work initiatives are administered effectively
- Ensure company and legislative reporting is completed as required and maintain all HSE related documentation
- Actively transfer best practices to and from other Saand operations
- Assist with the identification and resolution of unsafe acts or conditions

Education Requirements:

  • Post-Secondary Education in Human Resources
  • 3-5 years of work related experience (HR and safety) within a manufacturing environment.
  • Possess or working towards CHRP or CRSP designation
