Job Summary
 
  1. Project experience working with GM (5 years minimum)
  2. Exposure to working in automotive plastics
  3. Working with NX software (measurement, sections)
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
 
  • Liaison with Vuteq manufacturing facilities and customer design/engineering departments
  • Provides insight into manufacturability of products based on drawing or design
  • Lead/participate in the creation of DFMEA and incorporate necessary actions into design
  • Attend or lead project meetings
  • Manage both internal and customer open issues list for product design issues, support issue resolution to the customer timeline
  • Support program financial targets and cost reduction initiatives by generating cost reduction ideas
  • Promote and develop a procedure driven engineering department
  • Develop and implement policies, standards and procedures for the engineering and technical work performed in the department
  • Investigate/benchmark similar products
  • Support tooling/equipment cost control
  • Support cost estimation
  • Effectively train and develop other team members as necessary
  • Keep up to date with advancements in technology and material
 
Interpersonal skills
 
  • Demonstrate ownership of the project
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written
  • Conduct statistical analysis of data (performance/dimensional) to understand trends and implement corrective action
  • Develop and maintain positive and productive professional relationships with internal (Vuteq) and external customers
  • Work effectively across cultures in a global environment
 
Job Qualifications
 
Education
  • Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar field
Training
  • Working knowledge of NX
  • DFMEA
  • MS Office (particularly Excel, PowerPoint)
 
Working Conditions
           
Physical Effort and Requirements of this Position
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee must regularly lift/ move up to 10 lbs and occasionally life/ move up to 25lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, color, peripheral vision, depth perception and distance.
 
Intellectual Activities and Requirements of this Position
Language Skills
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organizations
 
Mathematical Skills
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
 
Reasoning Abilities
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule
 
Work Location
 
  • Base location is Vuteq Canada, travel to Customer is necessary. Short to long term on site work at Customer may be required
 
Work Environment
 
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to travel
