Description
Reporting to the District Manager, the Care and Service Manager is accountable for clinical leadership in the district, human resource management of clinical supervisors and front line staff, ensuring excellence in care and service delivery of clinical staff and alignment with regulatory requirements and organizational policy and procedure. 
Qualifications
  • Registration/licensing in good standing with provincial regulatory college (i.e. CNO in Ontario)
  • BSCN preferred
  • Minimum of three (3) years in a nursing leadership role required  
  • Minimum of 5-10 years’ experience as a practicing Registered Nurse,
  • Preference will be given to applicants with experience in a community setting
  • Certification in Community Health Nursing preferred
  • Working knowledge of applicable health care legislation including Mental Health Act, Substitute Decisions Act, Healthcare Consent Act and others
  • Knowledge of standards of care for palliative, paediatric, oncology and other specialties in order to offer guidance on Best Practices  in this areas
  • Superior oral and written communication skills to effectively interact with clients and families to ensure that barriers to communication do not impact the client’s ability to direct their own care process
  • Effective skills in critical thinking and problem solving
  • Flexibility in hours worked in order to accommodate operational needs
  • Knowledge of applicable community resources available for clients and families
  • Current  certification (within the past 12 months)  of First Aid, CPR, completed within Canada
  • Excellent computer skills including experience in Word and Excel
  • Able to provide a current, clear Vulnerable Position Screening (VPS) 
Responsibilities
  • Respond to and resolve urgent clinical concerns from staff, public and private funders, clients and families
  • Review all high risk events and participate in those representing unusually high risk such as withdrawal of service, abuse, unsafe conditions, or misconduct
  • Participate in the investigation and resolution of adverse events, sentinel events and ethical dilemmas
  • Prepare the annual in service and education plan per the district’s budget based on input from Leaders
  • Ensure completion of all mandatory training, skill development and delegation of task training
  • provide clinical leadership to the e Quality Management Program at the district
    • Have oversight of CQI activities related to care and service including staff participation and problem solving teams
    • Monitor care and service delivery performance indicators and clinical indicators
  • Participate in the interviewing, training, ongoing supervision and performance management of clinical supervisors
  • Generate reports and respond to findings  in written format involving relevant stakeholders
  • Create and maintain the on call schedule for clinical Supervisors
  • Work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team consisting of government agencies, healthcare workers, and other community resources
  • Demonstrate continuous learning and professional development through involvement in conferences, committees and networks
  • Champion alignment with  corporate policy  and lead clinical change initiatives
  • Show respect for cultural needs, dignity, privacy and confidentiality of staff and clients
  • Ensure compliance to ParaMed policies, procedures and legal requirements for yourself and all staff
  • Other duties as assigned
