Job Description

Position Summary
This key management positon is responsible for all financial activities of the Stratford facility. 
                               
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Establishes, or recommends to management, major corporate economic strategies, objectives, and policies for company.
  • Recommends modifications to existing corporate programs.
  • Prepares reports that summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations.
  • Directs and coordinates preparation of budgets, reviews budget proposals, and prepares necessary reports and the Plant budget programs.
  • Provides management with timely reviews of organization's financial status and progress in its various programs and activities.
  • Directs determination of depreciation rates to apply to capital assets.
  • Advises management on desirable operational adjustments due to tax code revisions.
  • Arranges for audits of company's accounts.
  • Prepares reports required by regulatory agencies.
  • Proposes policies for the establishment and maintenance of inventory levels for raw materials, supplies, material –in-process, and finished goods.Prepares and submits payroll for hourly and salary associates.
  • Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions.
  • Analyzes financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital, and prepares balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports to summarize and interpret current and projected company financial position.
  • Assigns all expense accounts and approves all A/P invoices.
  • Audits contracts, orders and vouchers, and prepares reports to substantiate individual transactions prior to settlement.
  • Installs, modifies, documents, and coordinates implementation of accounting systems and accounting control procedures.
  • At period end, reconciles all financial control accounts and forwards to corporate office.
  • Reviews cost detail sheets for accuracy and compares to ERP system.
  • Reconciles balance sheet accounts on weekly and monthly basis.
  • Directs and analyzes studies of general economic, business, and financial conditions and their impact on the policies and operations.
  • Monitors current Government programs and applies for grants as applicable.
 
Decision Making Authority
  • Manages, directs, and audits all functions of the Accounting department.
     
Required Competencies, Skills and Experience
  • Excellent communication skills, oral and written.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from both superiors and peers
  • Knowledge of the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Familiarity with sales and tax laws
  • Understanding of employment rules and regulations as well as garnishment regulations
  • Strong problem solving abilities and attention to detail
  • Must be self-directed
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office applications
  • Must possess thorough and relevant operations knowledge
     
    Preferred Skills
  • CGA or CPA desirable
  • 3+ years’ experience in an automotive manufacturing environment
 
Education and Job Experience Requirements
  • Four year accounting degree preferred, or comparable combination of experience and education
  • 5+ years’ experience in manufacturing
 
Work Environment and Physical Demands
  • The position requires the ability to work in non-climate controlled plant areas and climate controlled office areas.
  • This position is exposed to noisy plant areas, and forklift traffic.
  • This position requires the ability to sit, walk, perform repetitive keystrokes on a continual basis, and occasionally bend, kneel, twist, and reach.
