Job Introduction
 
Reporting to the Manufacturing Systems Manager & Engineering Supervisor the Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for the development and implementation of continuous improvement activities, maintaining engineering documentation while assisting the Engineering team with new product launch activities.
Major Responsibilities
 

• Track and update engineering documentation (process changes, work instructions, training signoffs, PFMEA’s and plant layouts)
• Designing and implementing cost effective equipment modifications to help improve safety and reliability
• Collaborate with production, quality, maintenance, IT, materials and shop floor personnel to establish, document and implement continuous improvement projects
• Oversee project schedules, budgets, action item lists
• Provide expertise and support for projects associated with process improvement, part quality improvement, ergonomic improvement, and cost reductions
• Prepare reports such as KPI/Metrics/WI’s/ODS/JES by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends
• Evaluate product design proposals and the impacts to the manufacturing process
• Implement engineering solutions to optimize the assembly process
• Assists in other assigned duties as required by the Engineering Department
• Abide by the Magna Employee Charter and Magna Corporate Constitution
• Follow all work instructions and comply with Company standards, policies and procedures

 
Knowledge and Education
 
College Diploma or University degree in Industrial Engineering or Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering is preferred.

Work Experience
Minimum of 1-2 years of Manufacturing Engineering experience in an automotive assembly or manufacturing environment is preferred.

Skills and Competencies
 
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with MS Excel, MS Project, Presentation and AutoCAD
- Working knowledge of PFMEA development
- Motivated with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Capable of managing projects from concept to implementation
- Ability to travel (Canada & USA) may be required

Qualtech Seating Systems is a fast paced Just In time (JIT) automotive assembly facility
