JUNIOR / INTERMEDIATE MECHANICAL DESIGNER - MANUFACTURING

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
  • Design of mechanical and electrical systems from concept to installation using components specified by the customer
  • Startup and signoff of all aspects of project including design, reviews, BOM’s, costing, project timeline and build
  • Develop manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors
  • Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements and equipment layout
  • Design testing methods, test finished product and process capabilities and establish standards
  • Provide manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs
  • Review production schedules; estimating future requirements
  • Collect, analyze, and summarize information and trends, prepare product and process reports for management team, provide day to day support to operations
  • Keep equipment operational by coordinating with maintenance; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; requesting special service
  • Develop operator work instructions and assist in training
  • Coordinate prototype and production runs through new program launches
  • Ensure your work area is maintained at required daily 5S standards
  • Drive long term problem solving through the implementation of CI (Glass House) projects
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
 
  • University Degree or Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • 5 years’ manufacturing experience in a lean manufacturing environment
  • Project management experience with the ability to lead cross-functional teams
  • Ability to read and create electrical drawings, PLC knowledge and programming an asset
  • Strong team player, detail oriented, critical thinking & problem solving skills
