Job Description
We have an opening for an Intermediate/Senior Law Clerk assisting in the area of Plaintiff Personal Injury.
The main responsibilities for this role include:
- meeting with clients;
- obtaining status updates from clients followed by memo to the lawyer;
- preparing notice letters;
- requesting documentation from various care providers;
- drafting and serving Statements of Claim;
- scheduling mediations and examinations for discovery;
- preparation of Notice of Examination for Discovery, Affidavit of Service, Discovery Plan, Affidavit of Documents;
- requesting and producing Schedule “A” documentation;
- requesting and reviewing transcripts;
- preparing and maintaining undertaking charts;
- requesting and producing undertakings;
- preparing Litigation Plans;
- drafting 30.10 Motions and other Motions as applicable;
- preparing, serving and filing Trial Records; trial preparation;
- referrals to experts;
- review and summary of medical and rehabilitation documentation;
- file reviews;
- drafting correspondence;
- managing an effective BF system to include follow-ups on receiving Statements of Defence, serving and receiving undertakings, deadlines set out in Litigation Plans, trial deadlines, etc.;
- briefing;
- preparation of disbursement accounts;
- maintaining files.
Knowledge of Primafact will be an asset in this position.
The successful candidate will be detail-oriented and have the ability to multitask, will demonstrate excellent organization, verbal and written communication skills and enjoy working as a member of a team.
