SUMMARY:

At Ontario Plants Propagation Limited, our vision is to be Eastern North America’s premier supplier of greenhouse vegetable transplants.  In order to help us accomplish this goal, we need to hire motivated passionate people. With that in mind we are looking for a Purchasing Coordinator whose primary responsibilities will be to coordinate, order and track the purchasing of production supplies; ensure on hand inventory meets demand; and follow up with suppliers regarding issues of quality or quantity. More specifically these duties would include responding to supplier inquiries, obtaining quotes, entering purchase orders, scheduling and monitoring delivery of supplies, and gathering and analyzing data related to procurement.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Review forecast of production supply requirements.
  • Analyze inventory needs based on sales trends and inventory levels.
  • Create and submit purchase orders.
  • Track purchase orders to ensure on time delivery.
  • Ensure all information regarding purchases is documented and filed according to accepted practices
  • Maintain purchasing and inventory tracking spreadsheets, and update relevant databases with receipt of materials.
  • Establish and maintain delivery schedules, monitor progress and contact suppliers to resolve any issues.
  • Coordinate the delivery schedules with the cooperation of the warehouse departments.
  • Monitor on hand inventory levels of production materials and supplies.
  • Follow up on issues of quality or shipment quantity discrepancies with the supplier.
  • Manage and communicate any changes in the purchasing of materials to the appropriate parties.
  • Data collection, entry and analysis.
  • Provide product, storage and order information to all internal departments as required.
  • Make alternate arrangements in the event of shortages or delayed deliveries to minimize impact on the organization.
  • PO reconciliation with vendor invoices.
  • Cross training with production coordinator once established in role.
  • General office support as needed.
  • Other duties as required.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Certified professional purchase designation or registration in the educational program of the Purchasing Management Association of Canada an asset.
  • Demonstrated understanding of supply chain and logistics concepts and theories.
  • Exceptional forecasting ability with strong analytical and interpretive skills
  • ERP user experience an asset.
  • Working experience in agriculture an asset.
  • 3-5 number of years in purchasing role
  • Advanced Excel skills a must
  • High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability.
  • Must have the ability to plan, organize, and interpret goals, objectives, policies, procedures, etc.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Well-developed problem solving skills and demonstrated ability to develop alternative solutions
COMMITMENT:
  • Full time Monday to Friday- hours to be determined by the President
  • Will be required to work Saturday’s, Sunday’s & holidays as needed
  • Able to work long hours during peak production times
Hourly wage to be negoiated.
