Agilus is recruiting for a Senior Accountant in the financial services field in London, Ontario.

A typical day:

• Prepare financial statements and corresponding notes, conduct compilation, conduct taxation engagements, and review year-end tax forms (T4s and T5s)
• Compute taxes owed and prepare personal and corporate tax returns (and other tax compliance slips) ensuring compliance with government standards
• Investigate and correct discrepancies/ irregularities in financial entries, documents and reports
• Respond to client questions and queries, develop and maintain relationships with client management, work with accounting software, and provide support to clients
• Raise identified technical issues with manager or engagement partner, update manager or engagement partner on the progress of engagements
• Set-up files for new clients and newly incorporated businesses and manage multiple files simultaneously
• Develop a thorough understanding of the company’s services, businesses and industry; attend internal company courses to further develop accounting and taxation knowledge
• Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes, lead engagement teams while coaching and mentoring junior team members

The successful candidate brings:

• Completion or current pursuit of a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation
• 2 to 4 years of relevant work experience in public accounting
• Prior experience working with professional clients would be considered beneficial (i.e. Dentists, Lawyers and Physicians)
• Experience working with accounting and tax software such as Caseware, TaxCycle (or similar software such as TaxPrep or Profile); working knowledge of Quickbooks and/or Xero would be an asset but not required
• Strong computer literacy including effective working skills of Microsoft Word and Excel
