Job Description
Our client is seeking a unique individual to assume the important role of Chief Technology Officer. As the selected candidate, you possess a strong business acumen, technical expertise, software development experience and advanced knowledge of web-based applications. A solid conceptual and practical thinker, you inherently understand the important role that technology plays in a rapidly evolving organization.
As the leader of our small, but dynamic technology team, you will lead our technology-based strategies and operations, including the day-to-day technical, administration and support activities for our information and communication systems that are used to support consumers, business partners and internal teams.
You are known to be a creative self-starter who is able to work as a member of our senior leadership team to deploy business strategies that deliver amazing results. With your strong communication skills you appreciate the value of good user-interface design and are thoroughly comfortable with emerging web platforms and technologies. Your experience with integrating digital strategies that can help meet our customer service needs will illustrate your solid grasp of the role that technology plays in helping to move our organization forward.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a key member of our core leadership team, you have primary responsibility for defining the scope, goals, and deliverables for several simultaneous projects that are required to support our business objectives.

Throughout the lifecycle of each project, you will help define project success criteria, monitor the project’s progress, ensure completion and share the results with all relevant stakeholders.

You will engage various leaders within our business by guiding their adoption of new technologies focused on improving our business processes.

To ensure best practices, you will deploy development techniques and use support tools to manage the project planning process, on-going project activities and deliverable tracking.

As our organization’s technology team leader, you will direct and manage the application development process and required integration activities with the use of outside agencies and development organizations to help grow our business.

You will negotiate with external parties, independent contractors, and other resources to secure the necessary services and products to support our technology requirements.

To ensure high levels of quality service for all our stakeholders, you will proactively ensure our systems are continually operational, identify and respond to potential risks and ensure contingency plans are in place.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
- A minimum of 5 years leadership experience with managing and technology teams in a medium sized business environment.
- A college diploma or university degree in computer science or information services and/or a minimum of 7 years of equivalent work experience.
- PMP Certification would be an asset.
- Extensive experience with database development, including integration of SQL Server repositories with real time cloud based applications.
- Knowledge of EDI; Google Apps and other related applications and technologies.
- Familiarity with web application development HTML, JavaScript, CSS, php, MySQL, SQL Server, and other content management systems.
- Knowledge about computer and network hardware and software
- Knowledge of operating systems: Windows XP, Mac OS X, other software: Microsoft Office, Adobe Reader, Adobe Acrobat, etc.
