At CREATIVEBUILD we create decorative and custom furnishings using a variety of materials and techniques: steel, zinc, new wood, old wood, pipe and plumbing fittings, salvaged items, etc. 

We need someone who is a keen thinker with an excellent memory.  Someone who looks ahead and anticipates the next step.  Someone who can think creatively while applying both new and traditional techniques.  Someone with motivation and enthusiasm to create new items every few weeks.

As a member of our team, the responsibilities in this roll include:

• Measuring and Cutting Materials
• Job prep and Clean Up
• Reading and understanding shop drawings and documents
• Operation of Shop Equipment - especially the Table Saw
• Assisting the Fabrication Specialist in all areas of fabricating using wood and other materials

The Ideal Candidate will have:

• an excellent driving record with reliable transportation
• proficiency at reading drawings and a tape measure
• knowledge of various fasteners for wood, steel, concrete, sheet metal, etc
• experience with finishing techniques: sanding, applying stains, applying clear coats
• ability to operate shop equipment: table saw, drill press, band saw, panel saw, belt sander, compound miter saw
• ability to use all hand and air tools: hammer, impact driver, chisels, scrapers, wrenches, screwdrivers, grinders, drills
• able to work safely and competently on a ladder
• An additional bonus (but not expected) would be ability to: MIG/stick weld, solder, drill and tap holes, operate a brake/shear, pull a 25ft trailer, experience with laminating wood together

Other "Good to Know" Stuff...

- Previous fabrication or industrial/construction/framing experience - would be an asset
- Ability to work in a physically demanding role - there is noise and lifting in the workshop
- High School Diploma required, college program in a technical field would be an asset
- CSA approved Safety boots or shoes
- Two work related references are required
- Must have reliable transportation
- Must be flexible to work overtime when needed, and an occasional afternoon or night shift
- Wage is competitive and starts between $18-$23/hour, based on skill and experience
