Job Description

Design Group Staffing, London Office, has an immediate opening for a Product Designer for our client, an automotive parts supplier. This is a perm fulltime position with base salary of 50-75K plus benefits.

Role Overview:
Reporting to the Design & Prototype Manager, you will focus on new business development, and be responsible for the advanced 3D product design to customer targets. The design role involves product process mapping and metal forming analysis. You will liaise between functional areas and customer in support of product development and launch in addition to supporting R&D development and initiatives toward continued technology development.
 
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Advanced CAD modeling using Catia, NX software’s for 3D design with a background in automotive design
Develop product proposals to the functional and structural targets of the customer and design guidelines in accordance with company design guidelines (TS 16949)
Work closely with teams in estimating, project and manufacturing engineering as well as external customers towards the design and development of product and tooling for new and released programs using CAD
Act as a support for technical requirements related to product and tooling processes with the project, prototype, estimating and manufacturing functional areas.
Support estimating process through design and quote data collection and follow through on product design and process validation thru the use of metal forming analysis software
Continually support innovative opportunities thru design to benefit customer and company technology
Document and report on project items using MS Office applications and Team Center while cataloging and maintaining project designs as per data management systems and quality standards
 
 
Educational Requirements and Qualifications:
Technician/Technologist diploma in Manufacturing and / or Mechanical Design
Minimum three years CAD experience in 3D modeling with ‘Catia V5’ and or ‘NX’
Demonstrate strong knowledge base on stamp and mold design principles, manufacturing processes, statistical and analytical methods and problem solving skills
Product data management using ‘Team Centering Engineering’ is an asset
