Job Description

The Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry provides outstanding education within a research-intensive, distributed learning environment where tomorrow's physicians, dentists and health researchers and other scholars learn to be socially responsible leaders in the advancement of human health. The Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry is the largest Faculty on the Western University campus and employs over 1,800 part time and full time faculty and over 1,500 staff.
 
Information Services (IS) provides high quality Information Technology and Management services to the School of Medicine & Dentistry in support of the School's mission.
 
The Network Analyst is responsible for setting up & maintaining all official Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry network servers and related services. These services include network authentication, file/print sharing, backups, electronic mail and calendaring, web services, database services, network design, security DNS administration, license management and technical documentation.  The incumbent will also provide second (escalated) level support to the Schulich helpdesk and desktop support staff and customers as required.
 
Qualifications
Education:
-   College diploma in System Administration or related field
-   University degree in Computer Science or related field is preferred
-   Formal Project Management training an asset
 
Experience:
-   3 years' experience in system/server & desktop support and administration
-   Experience in a higher education or health care environment is preferred
 
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
-   Excellent technical knowledge and ability in setting up, configuring, securing, managing and supporting Windows and Linux servers
-   Demonstrated ability to administer a corporate network environment
-   Knowledge and skill in modern desktop operating systems such as Windows and Mac OS as well as other desktop technologies including mobile phones and tablets
-   Working knowledge of SQL Server as well as Web services especially Microsoft IIS
-   Excellent skill and ability in server and desktop virtualization, especially VMWare
-   Demonstrated understanding and high skill level in enterprise Email system administration
-   Ability to install, configure, administer and support enterprise backup systems, preferably IBM TSM
-   Demonstrated skill in the administration and support of core services such as DNS, SSL certificates, Directory Services (both Active Directory and Edirectory), network printing as well as enterprise storage (e.g. SAN, etc)
-   High knowledge of Novell technologies
-   Good knowledge of desktop and server hardware with the ability to make minor upgrades and part replacements
-   Solid understanding and skill with enterprise Antivirus systems
-   Excellent knowledge & skill in system and information security and privacy best practices
-   Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
-   Strong customer service skills to handle enquiries and resolve issues in a professional and timely manner
-   Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of the team to achieve department goals
-   Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high quality work while meeting deadlines
-   Strong attention to detail with an ability to analyze and synthesize sizable amounts of detail/data
-   Excellent communications skills to effectively interact with technical and non-technical users
-   Flexible and adaptable in regards to learning and understanding new technologies
-   Self-driven, independent thinker who is highly motivated and possesses an intrinsic passion for quality
