PwC Service Delivery Center (SDC):
 
The SDC in London, Ontario provides tax return preparation, financial statement preparation, notice to readers and other compliance services in support of our Canadian national practice. Using technology, standardized processes, and best practices, we deliver the highest quality services to our clients.  The SDC is a key driver of the growth of our practice and the establishment of this facility will create many important positions. Joining this growing part of our business will provide you with the opportunity to play an important role in how our practice delivers client service.
  
The Opportunity: Preparer Specialist
 
Based in London, as a Preparer Specialist your primary role will be to prepare tax returns, financial statements and other supporting documentation for personal and corporate clients. The majority of this work occurs during our compliance “busy season” which is from February through June. In this role you would support the local office teams outside of compliance season, with the preparation of a wide range of financial documents and data, including compensation information financial statements, bookkeeping and other potential accounting functions.   As the SDC services all Canadian time zones, we are looking for individuals who are open and available for work between the hours of 8:00am EST and 8:00pm EST. 
(Specific shifts may vary, weekend work and Overtime will be necessary during peak seasons).

In the role as a Preparer Specialist, responsibilities could include:
 
  • Collect and organize financial statement and/or tax information for both corporate or personal clients
  • Prepare tax returns
  • Preparation of notice to reader files and relating financial statements
  • Collect and organize additional supporting documentation or responses to tax authority notices and decisions
  • Identify outstanding information on files and reach out to clients and practice staff as required 
  • Prepare and analyzing compensation and financial statement information
  • Support consulting work by drafting documents and presentations
  • Work with client engagement team as necessary to complete work assignments
 
Experience/Education:
 
You have 1 - 2 years’ work experience in the accounting or financial services field (such as: tax preparation services, bookkeeping, owner/operating clients, banking/insurance or financial service centers, accounts payable/receivable, and billing centers);
 
You are a graduate or current student in relevant undergraduate degree or diploma program in business, accounting or other related field
 
Requirements:
 
  • You have a high interest in business and absolutely love working with numbers; prior tax preparation and/or bookkeeping or other related accounting functions would be an asset
  • Detail is your middle name; you are well organized and have the ability to work effectively in a fast paced environment under tight deadlines
  • Your experience with accounting and/or Tax software such as Quickbooks, SAGE, Caseware or Prep would be beneficial
  • You are comfortable working with many sources of technology including MS office (excel) and are a quick learner when introduced to a new tool, database and internal process
  • Grace under pressure; you are the one who always keeps your cool with a “Can-Do” attitude, even as the pace speeds up. You have the ability to work independently to meet deadlines, prioritizing work and multi-tasking no matter what the task or how fast the pace
  • When presented with a documented process or guideline, no problem, you are happy to follow it to the letter, getting the job done, delivering high-quality results… but you also don’t hesitate to speak up if you have questions or ideas of a better way
  • You are skilled communicator with a proven ability to interact successfully with clients and co-workers at all levels
  • You are comfortable working paperless, completing tasks online
  • You are open to feedback to support continuous improvement and development
  • You are adaptable to change and are quick to learn new things (tasks, technology etc.), you name it, you are ready for it
  • Being a team player really means something to you; you are a positive force in your work environment and build solid relationships with team members
