Relief Direct Care Worker

This role involves working in a custody facility for male youth aged 12-17.  The successful candidates will have a strong background in residential services for youth and be responsible for all aspects of child and youth work, including transporting youth to court locations along the London/Windsor corridor.

 

Qualifications:

  • Able to establish therapeutic relationships on the basis of respect and trust
  • Willingness to promote our Corporate philosophy
  • Ability/willingness to lead individuals through a process of self-evaluation and goal setting consistent with Cognitive Behaviour Theory
  • Experience supporting individuals with mental health issues, including suicidal ideation
  • Support individuals with daily living while pursuing leisure and recreational opportunities
  • Ability to write clear, concise observations of behavior
  • Advocate on behalf of individuals to achieve goals
  • Proven computer skills, Microsoft Office preferred
  • Ability to use sound judgment and make independent decisions based on Policies & Procedures
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem solving skills; attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to work well as part of the team
  • A valid Ontario full (G) Driver’s Licence & current Driver’s Abstract, current Police Records Check & Vulnerable Position Screening, Standard First Aid & CPR Certificate, PMAB Certificate
  • Post Secondary in a related field or equivalent
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience supporting youth with complex and high behaviour needs

 

Work Location:          Genest Detention Centre for Youth – London, ON

King Street Detention Centre – London, ON

 

Starting Wage:           $17.71 per hour plus 4% vacation pay
