GKN Sinter Metals is a Tier 1 supplier of powdered metal components to Ford, DaimlerChrysler and General Motors. The facility, located in St. Thomas, employs approximately 150 people and manufactures hubs, races, planetary carriers, sensor rings, and pocket plates.
We currently have two vacancies for a contract Production Supervisor - one to work every Saturday afternoon from 2:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. and one to work every Saturday night from 11:30 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. . In this capacity, the incumbent will be responsible for the following:
 

• Directs, supervises and coordinates production employees/operations on their respective shift
• Ensures all employees are adhering to Company rules/regulations/policies/procedures and the collective bargaining agreement and documents/recommends discipline when necessary.
• Champions product quality, workmanship, methods and processes to meet internal and customer requirements.
• Ensures all employees are working safely and in adherence with Company required safety procedure/policies/rules, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
• Recognizes and reacts to equipment issues.
• Coordinates quality efforts and achieve quality standards
• Complete reports as required
• Champions diversity and inclusion in line with Company guidelines
• Performs other duties as assigned by Management

Qualifications and education required:

• At minimum, a high school education but post-secondary education is preferred. Must have minimum one to three years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
• Certified in first aid and CPR
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to exercise discretion, confidentiality, and good judgment when dealing with employee matters
• Good problem solving skills
• Strong listening skills a must

This position $30.00 per hour. We anticipate the contract will run from now until the end of June.
