Brescia University College campus is situated on the traditional lands of the Anishinaabeg, Haundenosaunee, Lunaapéewak and Chonnonton Nations. This territory falls under the London Township Treaty and Sombra Treaty 1796, and the Dish with One Spoon Wampum. Brescia University College accepts responsibility as a public institution to contribute toward revealing and correcting miseducation as well as renewing respectful relationships with Indigenous Communities through teaching, research, and community service.

Brescia is currently seeking an experienced and dynamic individual to fill a position as:
 
                                
Registrar
(Permanent – Full Time)


The Registrar reports directly to Brescia’s Provost and provides overall leadership and direction for the areas of enrollment and retention services. The Registrar leads the Registrar’s Office by providing effective overall direction and leadership in the areas of enrollment management, academic advising, timetabling, and international programming. The Registrar is responsible for developing and implementing a robust student success and engagement plan to support the university’s strategic plan, advancing meaningful partnerships, and contributing to Brescia’s student retention activities. The Registrar is also responsible for leading a diverse team, including continuing and contract staff.

This position requires the individual to be professional and motivated to succeed, with exceptionally high personal standards of performance and strong judgment.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee academic regulations and registration functions of the University. These responsibilities include working in collaboration with the other Directors and Chairs, as well as Recruitment and Admissions to support Brescia’s Recruitment Plan.
  • Oversee the development of programming to encourage the retention of students
  • Provide effective overall direction and leadership to staff in the areas of registration, academic advising, records, international programming and enrollment services
  • Work effectively with other Registrars and staff within Western and the other Affiliate campuses
  • Create strategies to develop and deliver a robust international exchange program both for incoming and out-going students
  • Support Academic Advising as senior decision maker as an extra advisor during peak periods
  • Research and identify appropriate program linkages which will lead to the development of articulation agreements, pathways and agreements between institutions
  •  Be highly attuned to emerging post-secondary trends and technologies
  • Responsible for providing budget direction and tracking for the units in this portfolio
  • Responsible for data collection, analysis and reporting for the units in the portfolio
  • This position requires a very high level of independent judgement and will be required to make decisions independently
  • A proven record in working with diverse populations preferred
As a Director, the Registrar will also:
 
  • Provide counselling, direction and resolve problems, while managing the operations of the Brescia Registrar’s Office
  • Prepare and deliver training to staff as required
  • Serve on committees both internal and external to Brescia to represent Brescia and the Registrar’s Office and strengthen communication between various areas
  • Enforce established policies and make recommendations for policy changes as appropriate
  • Work collaboratively with other Directors including Recruitment and Admissions, Chairs, and the Director of Student Affairs to build programming to meet the needs of Brescia students
  • Support special projects as identified by the Provost

Qualifications:
  • A Ph.D. is preferred or a graduate degree with experience relative to the specific requirements of the position
  • A minimum 7 years experience in enrollment management
  • Experience in a senior student administrative and leadership position at a post-secondary institution, with increasing levels of responsibility
  • Progressive responsibility in the areas of enrollment management, timetabling, data management and analysis, student retention, advising, student records and information systems, and registration functions within a post-secondary environment
  • Knowledge and application of student success models to support retention goals
  • A demonstrated capacity to develop and maintain strong student-centred services
  • Demonstrated service orientation, with strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience in budget forecasting and development
  • Previous experience in international programming, advising and administration is desirable
  • Various software applications supporting enrollment tracking and reporting. Advanced working knowledge of Excel, Cognos, and PeopleSoft.
