Summary of Duties:
The City of London is currently recruiting a foreign trained professional who is working towards acquiring their accreditation as an Engineer and requires 12 months of Canadian work experience. The program is aimed at developing technical engineering skills and project management expertise within the Service Area. The position reports to the Division Manager for purposes of assignments and career development and reports to Transportation Design Engineers for specific work assignments.
Work Performed:
Under the direct supervision of an Engineer within the Service Area, the intern will assemble and undertake engineering activities related to the planning, design and construction of transportation infrastructure projects.
Specific work assignments may include:
- Providing assistance to Transportation Design Engineers in data collection, planning, designing, programming engineering infrastructure renewal projects.
- Preparation of consultant acquisition documents for engineering services.
- Inspection of contracted engineering and construction works in the field.
- Preparation of various engineering undertakings and reports to City Committees and Council.
- Completion of project designs and documentation.
- Design of engineering works .
- Preparation of cost estimates.
Qualifications:
Candidates must be a graduate of a university engineering program with Canadian equivalency of a Bachelor of Engineering degree (Civil, Transportation or Environmental) from a university recognized by the P.E.O. Candidates must also be working towards obtaining accreditation as a Professional Engineer and have experience some experience in an engineering environment.
Experience:
Some experience working in an engineering or technical environment including experience with the planning, design and/or construction of transportation infrastructure or related works is preferred.
Compensation & Other Information:
$60,000 annually
This posting is for one (1) temporary full-time up to 12 month position.
Current hours of Work: Monday - Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Work Arrangement: Hybrid. Subject to change in accordance with business requirements.
These hours of work are subject to change in accordance with the Collective Agreement and may include evening hours and Saturdays.
