Summary:
Branton Advertising is a full-service agency in London Ontario. We are seeking a creative and professional Copywriter to join our creative team. The Copywriter’s responsibilities shall include the writing of advertising copy that promotes sales and the building of brand image. The Copywriter is required to write in a persuasive yet informative, concise and easy to understand style while contributing to the overall concept and creation of ideas. The Copywriter reports to the Art Director while providing support to the VP of Marketing in the form of press releases, newsletters, presentations, articles and other communication pieces.

Job Duties Include:
  • Collaborate with production, marketing, and development teams to ensure project completion according to deadline and budget
  • Provide assistance to other copywriters as needed
  • Produce advertising copy and content for materials such as presentation kits, catalogues, direct mail, sales promotions, print and web advertising, templates, speeches, letters, newsletters, interviews, manuals, articles, blogs, e-mail campaigns and newsletters, web content, video scripts, internal marketing messages and other corporate communications as required
  • Proofread, edit, and write a variety of materials that resonate with the target audience while maintaining brand tone of voice
  • Creation of brand style guides
  • Interact with both internal and external customers to determine and understand project goals and direction
  • Study and analyze the assignment in regards to innovation, product development, potential competition, target group and previously used mediums for the same or similar assignments
  • Take part in all meetings that deal with the assignment including those related to production and process
  • Study and track the success of launched assignments
  • Make adjustments to existing copy as required
  • Organize and prioritize work to meet multiple deadlines
  • Stay current and maintain a library of industry news and reference materials
  • Review all copy using checklist applicable style guide
  • Perform checks for questionable details
  • Perform administrative duties as assigned
  • Stay current on copyright and plagiarism legislation and regulations
  • Make recommendations for process improvements and more effective methods and mediums
Requirements
  • Degree in a field related to Advertising, Journalism, Marketing, English.
  • 3+ years of agency or corporate copywriting experience.
  • Experience in the Marketing/Advertising industry preferred
  • Work experience in an advertising agency, communications agency or internal marketing department required
  • Demonstrated effective writing skills required
  • Ability to create materials in a range of styles or as per prescribed style
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
  • Able to take constructive criticism
  • Knowledge of Macintosh and/or PC computers required
  • Demonstrated skills for publishing programs
  • Ability to write copy for SEO purposes a plus
  • Superb writing, content development and editing skills
  • Excellent writing skills, including proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation
  • Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
  • Highly effective teamwork skills
  • Computer literate, including effective working skills of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail and Adobe Products
  • Ability to adapt to and learn fast new software
  • Attention to detail in all areas of work
  • Ability to follow through and complete overlapping projects

Working Conditions
