Refrigeration Operator Class B
Cargill is a large and reputable food company with operations around the world.  Cargill Value Added Protein operates a chicken processing plant in London, Ontario and a hatchery in Jarvis, Ontario.  The processing plant employs approximately 900 employees and the hatchery has approximately 70 employees.  Cargill Value Added Protein operates ground beef processing facilities in Brampton, Ontario and Spruce Grove, Alberta employing approximately 130 employees.
 
We are currently accepting applications for a Refrigeration Operator located in our London, Ontario Facility. This position will be responsible for operating and maintaining the refrigeration compressed air system.
 
 
Principal Accountabilities:
  • Maintain refrigeration and compressed air system
  • Follow company policies (performance, safety, etc.)
  • Ensure proper operation of plant and office HVAC systems
  • Maintain building, roof, floor and report substandard conditions
 
You will also be required to:
  • Operate man-lifts or forklifts 
  • Lift and carrying up to a heavy level (0 - 20 + kg) 
  • Climb ladders and work from heights
 
Qualifications:
 
Required:
  • Refrigeration Operator Class B License
  • Experience with ammonia cooling and compressed air systems
  • Experience with boilers and steam
  • Knowledge of TSSA standards
  • Good Manufacturing practices
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Able to work day, afternoon and midnight shift
  • Self-starter with ability to work effectively and lead within a team environment
  • Must be willing to work from heights, work outside in various weather conditions, inside the plant, in confined spaces, and in a potentially physically strenuous environment and around live animals.
  • Basic knowledge of industrial safety, food safety and environmental regulations with absolute commitment to safety
  • Strong problem solving skills, good written and verbal communication skills 
  • Strong work ethic and a desire to be part of a high-performing team 
  • Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada on a non-temporary basis.
 
Preferred:
  • Food Industry experience
  • Knowledge of CFIA requirements for food manufacturing
  • Demonstrated computer skills including data entry and data retrieval
  • Ability to read blueprints and layout drawings
