Summary of Duties |
Works under the direction of a Supervisor or designate. Maintains, repairs, installs machinery and equipment and associated equipment for all facilities of water and wastewater, solid waste transfer stations or landfill areas. |
Work Performed |
- Performs work, as outlined above, in a water or wastewater environment, or solid waste management facility, or solid waste transfer station or landfill areas.
- Provides work direction and training to other staff; communicate related activities orally and in writing, including the preparation of reports, details of work completed, work related planning and job costing sheets. Assignments may be received in the form of verbal or written instructions, rough sketches, diagrams or drawings.
- Diagnoses and locates troubles, and correct same. Reads, develops and interprets layout and process control diagrams.
- Performs preventative mechanical maintenance and makes repairs to facility equipment.
- Fabricates and machines repair parts. Uses hand and power tools common to trade.
- Handle toxic and corrosive material in a safe manner.
- Assists in operating Springbank Dam, including the placing and removal of stop logs and flow control devices to control river level.
- Works with outside engineering firms and contractors, as directed. Work with and understand supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) and computerized maintenance management system and associated software packages.
- Regular confined space entry required.
- As assigned, performs related duties which are transient, or of an emergency nature, or which are minor but recurring.

Qualifications |
Successful completion of Grade 12 in the Province of Ontario or equivalent plus successful completion of an apprenticeship as an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic or Millwright. |
Specialized Training and Licenses |
- Valid Class G Driver's Licence.
- Ability to prepare detailed reports, maintain accurate records, and to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
- Must be familiar with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Regulations that apply to this work.
- Must be familiar with established requirements and objectives set out by local and provincial legislation.
- Certificate of qualification as a Journeyman/Industrial Mechanic (Millwright).
- Certified welder.

$31.93 - $35.50 per hr |
