Steeves and Rozema Nursing Homes Ltd. is currently hiring a Manager, Resident Care (DoC) for one of their Long Term Care Homes located in London, On.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in geriatric nursing or post-RN education in Gerontology. Preference will be given to a Bachelor of Nursing Science degree with relevant experience
  • Current registration and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Knowledge of RNAO Best Practice guidelines and MOH Regulations and Act
  • Experience in management required - Minimum 5 years
  • Extensive Knowledge of risk and quality management
  • Innovative, creative, flexible and enthusiastic
  • Clear understanding of Resident-Centered Care
  • Exhibited Leadership ability/skills by setting a positive example, being visible, involved, accessible, and helping our staff with their professional growth.
  • Extensive experience in a Unionized setting required
  • Dedicated to meeting and exceeding the needs of the home
  • Encourages and maintains a culture that values Team Member experiences through effective training, supervision, coaching and performance management
  • Proven track record in Positive Employee Relations
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Human Resources process

Responsibilities:

  • Understands and supports the Mission, Vision & Values of the Home
  • Supports and practices CQI
  • Advocates for Resident Rights
  • Assists and facilitates the Resident Care Team to:
  • Develop philosophy and purpose of nursing services
  • Set goals and objectives for nursing department
  • Develop and implement nursing policies and procedures
  • Set standards of resident care
  • Manages nursing budget and envelope
  • Develops staffing patterns to meet resident’s needs
  • Responsible for the recruitment and selection of nursing staff
  • Ensures completion of performance appraisals of nursing staff
  • Ensures communication process within department and Home is effective
  • Supports orientation of staff and staff education
  • Supports research and educational activities
  • Co-operates and co-ordinates services with community agencies and other health care providers
  • Keeps up to date with new and current trends in nursing
  • Works effectively as a multi-disciplinary team member
  • Recruits, develops, motivates, recognizes and holds the Nursing Team accountable to meet established objectives and needs of our residents

Behavioural Competencies:

  • Exhibit a highly developed ability to actively listen, negotiate and communicate goals; share knowledge, experience and responsibility when dealing with direct reports, employees and residents
  • Demonstrates flexibility and creativity in problem solving and overall management
  • Forward, independent and innovative thinking
  • Experienced in directing, managing, coaching and mentoring staff to motivate and bring about efficiency and creativity.
