Job Description
mindyourmind is a youth mental health and engagement program that works in partnership with youth, emerging adults and the professionals who serve them, to co-develop innovative tools and resources. These resources are designed to promote wellness, reduce stigma, and increase access to community supports, both professional and peer-based. Through the use of active engagement, best practice and technology, mindyourmind inspires youth to reach out, get help and give help. mindyourmind uses a Design Studio model to co-create resources with young people to impact systems change and build capacity and resilience.
mindyourmind is an award winning and internationally recognized mental health engagement program, working towards better mental health outcomes for youth and young adults between the ages of 15-29. mindyourmind is a program of ConnexOntario Health Services Information with core funding provided by the Ontario Ministry of Children and Youth Services.
Description:
The successful candidate will be a passionate and dynamic advocate for youth, and for mental health and addictions, who enjoys working with like-minded individuals. They will possess excellent interpersonal skills, able to be flexible and adapt to working within a small team and fast paced environment.
A strong facilitator, they will plan and coordinate all aspects of project group facilitation with youth. They will have proven program development skills, able to execute the vision and goals of the program.
Strong understanding of social media engagement, implementing and overseeing mindyourmind’s marketing and communication strategy. This will include content development for mindyourmind.ca and other mindyourmind websites and channels.
The Engagement and Partnership Coordinator will possess excellent communication and presentation skills and may represent the organization throughout the youth mental health and addictions community.
Accountabilities:
- Plan, lead and facilitate youth Design Studios
- Maintain social media communication and strategy
- Content development for mindyourmind.ca and other platforms
- Maintain open communication and positive working relationships with staff team
- Participate in events, networking, community relations and other activities as required
- Build solid working relationships and partnerships with other organizations and partners
- Be an advocate for youth participants in the mindyourmind program and maintain relationships and retention of youth volunteers
- Supervise and lead student placements
- Work collaboratively in an open office environment with staff team including Web Developer, Creative Lead and Instructional Designer
- Advocate and promote awareness of mindyourmind’s mission and goals
- Some evening/weekend work and travel required
Experience and Education Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree (or other advanced degree) in the Human Services field
- Experience working in a Youth Social Service organization, working collaboratively with external partners
- Knowledge of and sensitivity to the issues affecting people with mental illness and addictions and a strong commitment to the betterment of youth mental health
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in standard computer programs
- Proven leadership capacity
- Demonstrated ability to create innovative programming and think creatively
- Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation
- Ability to engage and collaborate with diverse youth mental health and addictions groups
