Engineering Manager

On behalf of our client in St. Thomas, Randstad Canada is recruiting for a dynamic individual to take on a new challenge as the Engineering Manager for in a Manufacturing Environment that produces equipment for a variety of heavy equipment industries.

Job Duties (subject but not limited to):

Primary responsibilities for this role are to supervise a staff of engineering professionals in a variety of processes for new product development while collaborating with multi-functional teams in addition to:

  • Develop plans to improve product and business processes through continuous improvement practices and preventative maintenance on existing equipment
  • Meet with teams to ensure projects are being completed on time and within budget, direct resources to ensure these goals are met, delegate workflow where needed
  • Proven ability in directing large teams with ability to prioritize efforts and gain commitment and follow through from the team
  • Use Performance metrics combined with personal communication to lead and increase output, improve output quality or reduce cost
  • Set performance goals and achievable deadlines in line with performance targets
  • Work with the Project Leads to proactively identify potential needs and execute projects

Required Qualifications:

  • P.Eng License and / or a Certificate in Project Management is an asset
  • Degree in an Engineering Discipline required and related education in Engineering or Business Management or training is an asset as well
  • 8-10 years related Experience working in manufacturing environments
  • 2+ years of Management Experience with outstanding inter personal skills, organization, written and verbal communication
  • Experience working within an APQP or phase/gate new product development processes
  • Previous experience with Electrical Schematic, Solid works, AutoCAD, (FEA) Finite Element Analysis or (CFD) Computational Fluid Dynamics, or P&ID creation
  • Spanish language skills would be considered an asset

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of hydraulic fluid system, mechanical and electrical modeling and design.
  • Experience with specifying or designing hydraulic and electrical systems for mobile and/or industrial products.
  • Experience in mechanical design of machines for mining and rail industries would be desirable
  • Knowledge of the design and operation of hydraulics, controls, electrical is highly desirable
