Bosco and Roxy's is a premium, specialty dog treat manufacturer based in London, Ontario and ships worldwide. We create and bake some of the most innovative treats in the animal kingdom that are quickly becoming a must have in every treat jar. Summary
The HR Coordinator is responsible to assist with all human resource aspects of Bosco and Roxy's and Country Paws Boarding. Key areas of responsibility include policy and procedure enforcement; human resource planning; labour relations; training and development; occupational health and safety; recruitment and selection. In addition to remaining current with all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws and regulations, this role requires the individual to adhere to and enforce all established Company policies and procedures for all operations.

Job Duties
Recruitment & Selection

  • Meet with management team to determine needs and develop a recruitment strategy to efficiently fill vacancies
  • Recruit and select new hires based on their knowledge, skills and abilities

Training & Development

  • Facilitate training and development programs for employees and managers.
  • Deliver fulsome employee orientation including health and safety training
  • Assist Management with conducting job performance evaluations.
  • Conduct training needs analyses of the entire workforce to design appropriate and necessary training and development programs.
  • Maintain a matrix for training requirements, maintain records of all health and safety-related training and assist in the development of rollout programs

Planning

  • Advise and assist departmental managers on the interpretation and administration of policies, programs and best practices.
  • Adhere to legislation such as the Human Rights Act and Labour Standards Act.
  • Remain current with best practices, legislative changes and industry standards.

Organizational Development

  • Maintain positive working relationships with employees and the management team.
  • Inform employees about new policies, job duties, working conditions, wages, and opportunities for promotion.
  • Advise and educate managers on legislative matters such as discrimination, discipline, harassment, etc. and lead by best practice in each situation
  • Serve as a link between management and employees by handling questions, interpreting and administering contracts and policies striving to resolve work-related issues.
  • Lead an annual health and safety program audit to ensure the effectiveness of occupational health and safety programs

Health and Safety

  • Assist in the investigation and reporting of accidents/incidents
  • Maintain annual health and safety plans for the company based on a full review of health and safety-related needs (assessment of hazards, analysis of database, audits, changing legislation and best practices) as required by the Ministry of Labour
  • Review occupational health and safety legislation, amendments and best practices to optimize occupational health and safety programs
  • Effectively manage return to work programs, working closely with the employee, his/her supervisors and the insurance company to ensure the employee’s safety and health, as well as ensuring that he or she receives all of the benefits he or she is entitled to
  • Liaise with WSIB/WCB and insurance providers on all claims, including managing appeals where appropriate
  • Coordinate inspections, investigations, and occupational health and safety activities within various departments
  • Support and promote occupational health, wellness and safety department initiatives
  • Act as a resource to or serve as a member on the Joint Health and Safety Committee, assisting and providing information and responses on behalf of the company

Requirements

  • CHRP designation required or working towards designation
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a Coordinator or Generalist role
  • Post Secondary diploma in Human Resources Management.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle to attend various job sites
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Drive
  • Excellent Presentation skills
  • JHSC Certification
  • Strong understanding of Employment Standards legislation, Human Rights legislation and Occupational Health and Safety
