Job Description

Humana Community Services is currently seeking applicants to join our Finance and Corporate Assets team as a Finance Coordinator. Successful applicants will provide support to the organization by keeping financial records and establishing and maintaining various accounts using computerized bookkeeping systems. They will maintain a positive customer service approach with internal and external stakeholders at all times

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies and regulatory requirements
  • Prepare, process, and record all accounts receivable transactions, analyze receivables by performing an aging analysis
  • Liaise with program staff to obtain appropriate service data for invoicing
  • Accurately allocate receipts to the appropriate program/fund, including deferring designated donations
  • Prepare bank entries and deposits, and prepare monthly bank, investment, and donation reconciliations
  • Support the Finance Administrator with the preparation of cheque and EFT disbursements and verify credit card and petty cash transactions
  • Process and file physical and electronic data, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality of data
  • Assist with monthly and quarterly reporting (journal entries, reconcile accounts, month end)
  • Participate in the preparation of working papers and support in the annual audit process
  • Assist in monthly financial reports as well as participate in revenue/expense projections
  • Assist with financial system improvements to better our internal processes and information sharing
  • Attend team meetings, seminars, and professional development activities
Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary education in business administration (accounting or finance preferred)
  • Exceptional Microsoft Office skills, specifically in Excel
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as working within a team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to accuracy and detail
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with interruptions and tight deadlines
  • Experience with Sage is an asset, specifically Sage 300
  • Prior sector experience is an asset; specifically reporting to Ministry of Health and/or Ministry of Children, Community & Social Services, and experience with Accounting Standards for Not-for-Profit Organizations (Part III of the CPA Canada Handbook)
  • Bilingualism is considered an asset
Position details:

Compensation: Starting wage $21.11/hour plus paid vacation time off, and comprehensive benefits package, including RRSP matching
