We are currently a startup, but we are growing rapidly, with offices opening in the new 100 Kellogg property development in the heart of London Ontario  (Old East). The offices will be set up right next to The Factory, an indoor entertainment venue set to open in early 2018 as the largest indoor entertainment center in Canada.  The offices will feature modern furnishings and workstations with the added bonus of free parking on premises.

About You

We are seeking a WordPress Developer with solid back-end chops and a knack for front-end development, including creating WordPress themes and plugins. This position requires a combination of programming skills (namely PHP, HTML5, CSS3/4, SASS,  and JavaScript) and aesthetics (understanding element arrangements on the screen, the color and font choices, and so on). A strong understanding of atomic design principles and responsiveness is an asset, as well as knowledge of GitHub and source control practices. Familiarity with JIRA and code-review processes is a plus but not required as training will be provided.

We’re looking for someone who is eager to learn and grow while always looking for new and inventive solutions or ways to streamline the development process. If you have a sharp eye for detail and pride yourself on executing intricate designs to the highest quality standards, we want to hear from you.

Responsibilities

• Assisting in establishing website architecture

• Collaborate with design team to create effective and responsive designs based on client discovery

• Convert designs from PSD/Sketch to HTML & CSS with a focus on responsiveness

• Produce semantic markup

• Extensive browser testing across multiple browsers/devices and operating systems

• Put users first in every decision you make

• Consider user-experience across multiple devices

• Consider and build to performance and accessibility challenges

• Stay on top of industry trends and techniques and share them with your colleagues

• Ultimately, help us Humanize the Web while delivering an excellent client experience

Skills and Qualifications

• 2+ years professional web development experience

• Agency experience is highly desirable but not required

• Strong understanding of front-end technologies, including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery

• Experience working with CSS preprocessors ( SASS / LESS )

• Experience building user interfaces for websites and/or web applications with cross browser support

• Experience building and maintaining WordPress installations

• Strong understanding of PHP back-end development

• Experience customizing WordPress to fit specific client needs

• Experience developing custom WordPress plugins

• Experience designing and developing responsive design websites

• Ability to convert PSD layouts and wireframes into working HTML pages

• Knowledge of how to interact with RESTful APIs and formats (JSON, XML)

• Bonus points

  • Familiar with AODA Compliance requirements

  • Knowledge of VUE.js/REACT/NODE
