Our client located in Southwestern Ontario is in current search of a Chief Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis.Key Responsibilties:The incumbent must ensure that engineering systems are operated in a safe and efficient manner and in compliance with applicable Acts, Codes, Regulations and Standards. Engineering systems include water (potable, sanitary, storm, etc.), compressed air, and steam and ammonia (NH3) refrigeration. The Chief Engineer is also responsible for overseeing the Shift Engineers and their compliance with the above.Schedule and coordinate maintenance and preventative maintenance activities to ensure equipment runs effectively, reliably and safely; includes working with contractors and purchasing department.Supervise Shift Engineers and monitor engineering systems on a day-to-day basis to ensure that production requirements are being met.Schedule and coordinate maintenance and preventative maintenance activities to ensure equipment runs effectively, reliably, safely; and will include working with contractors and purchasing department.Champion and lead Health & Safety.Develop and implement system changes and upgrades that create opportunities for operational efficiency improvements.Develop and maintain costs through budgeting and efficiency tracking systems for engineering operations.Stay current on Codes and Regulations, as well as ensure that systems are being operated to Codes and Regulations.Monitor and track engineering system usage for monthly billings.Responsible for energy initiatives and current utility management.Preferred Hiring Criteria:Experience in a food industry an asset. 5 to 10 years experience in a Class 2 plant with ammonia refrigeration, with a minimum of 5 years Chief Engineer/Management experience.Must possess minimum TSSA 2nd Class certification or 3rd Class with A Refrigeration.Demonstrated leadership and innovation in a unionized environment.Strong communication skills including motivating and training the team.Excellent organizational, analytical, and planning abilities.Ability to work with MS Office, SAP, and other software. Strong knowledge of industry regulations and standards.
