Occupational Health and Safety
Our client, a large defense manufacturer in LONDON, ONTARIO is looking for a candidate to join their Occupational Health and Safety team.
Required Qualifications
• Degree in any of the safety related disciplines or equivalent (ie: engineering, safety, industrial hygiene)
• Knowledge of Safety Engineering Principles, Design Standards and able to assess if concept designs are likely to achieve numerical safety targets
• Advanced knowledge of international and local safety, occupational health and environmental standards (legislative and design)
• Ability to travel (5% Cdn) and (10% US & Int'l) and possess/be able to acquire and maintain a valid passport
• Well organized and self-motivated team player
• Superior oral and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
• 5 years’ experience in System Safety in product design
• Experience in applying safety related Military Standards (ie: MIL-STD-882, MIL-HDBK-764) to product design
• Professional certification in safety (ie: CRSP, CHSC, CSP, ROHT, CIH)
• Able to construct and update Fault tree Analysis
• An understanding of Functional Safety and ISO 26262
• An understanding of Functional Failure Analysis
• Advanced computer skills in MS Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Job Responsibilities
• Provide front end System Safety, Occupational Health and Hazardous Materials consultation to design teams with the goal of 'designing out' future safety hazards
• Conduct analyses to support vehicle design & development
• Evaluate customer requirements for ESOH and determine vehicle compliance
• Create and manage Hazard Logs, Risk Registers and conduct Hazard Tracking
• Support System Engineering Department in development of the System Specification Document ensuring safety, occupational health and hazardous materials requirements are captured
• Plan and conduct, as required, ESOH testing (Noise Testing, Air Quality Testing) to determine compliance to contract and/or system specification requirements
• Generate, as required, Safety, Occupational Health and Hazardous Materials reports to be submitted to the Customer
Due to the nature of the position, successful applicants must meet all applicable security requirements of the Canadian Controlled Goods Program, including, but not limited to, the ability to obtain and maintain a Canadian government security clearance to secret level.
